2015 World Series Odds

A lot has changed since the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants closed out the 2014 baseball season with a riveting Game 7 at Kauffman Stadium. And, apparently, not all of the changes were good news for either of the defending league champions. The Giants, who topped KC 3-2 in the aforementioned Fall Classic finale, are drawing 16 to 1 odds to repeat while the Royals are a 28 to 1 pick to win the 2015 World Series. Two early playoff ousters from last season, the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers, are expected to benefit from what proved to be a busy off-season. The Nationals are Bovada’s favorite to win the 2015 World Series at 13 to 2 odds ($100 wins $650) while the Dodgers are a close second pick with a 17 to 2 listing ($100 wins $850).

Following the Nats and Dodgers, a 2014 World Series favorite, on Bovada’s World Series leaderboard are some familiar squads as well as a few surprise contenders. The Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals, two clubs that have combined to win five of the last 10 Fall Classics, are getting 10 to 1 and 12 to 1 odds to win the pennant this year. They are followed by the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners.

The Cubs, who bolstered their roster with the additions of Jon Lester, Jason Hammel, Miguel Montero and others, are listed as a 14 to 1 World Series pick. The Angels and Mariners, two AL West rivals that tallied 98 and 87 wins last year, respectively, are also drawing 14 to 1 odds to win the championship.

Along with the defending champion Giants, the Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres are all coming in at 16 to 1 odds to win the World Series. The Padres were one of the busiest teams in the league this off-season, adding a number of new faces, including James Shields,  Justin Upton, Wil Myers and Matt Kemp, in order to improve upon last year’s 77 win season.

The least likely 2015 World Series winners according to Bovada are the Colorado Rockies and Philadelphia Phillies. Both squads, which jettisoned a number of players, are 150 to 1 picks to win the Fall Classic.
