Billy Joe Saunders labelled Willie Monroe Jnr a ‘queer’ as the two fighters clashed at a media workout ahead of their world title fight on Saturday.
Saunders defends his WBO middleweight strap against Monroe Jnr at London’s Copper Box Arena this weekend and on Wednesday the two boxers came face-to-face and exchanged insults at London’s Peacock Gym.
‘All you are is a load of bums coming over here and you’re going to get dealt with,’ Saunders shouted at his opponent and his team.

‘If you’d like to tune in on Saturday night, you will see this queer get beat, you will see him get stopped, you will see him get knocked out (and) knocked out bad.’
The unbeaten Briton had earlier shoved a hat worn by Monroe Jr’s trainer, T.J. Nolan, down his trousers before telling him: ‘Next time bring your mum here as well… and we’ll f*** her like a b****’
Monroe responded to the confrontation by claiming Saunders’ actions were those of a scared fighter.

‘What’s the classic defence against fear? Noise, right? What did he come in here doing? Making a lot of motherf****** noise,’ Monroe Jr said.
It is not the first time Saunders has faced accusations of homophobia. In July he was criticised for saying he didn’t think it was ‘right for kids to see’ a shop worker who had long hair and wore earrings.
This Saturday night, his middleweight clash tops a packed bill of British boxing that will feature unbeaten prospects Anthony Yarde and Daniel Dubois.
Exciting and explosive heavyweight Dubois, who takes on AJ Carter for the vacant Southern Area title, was also put through his paces in front of the media on Wednesday.
