Canelo Alvarez looks a cool customer in cryotherapy tank
- Gennady Golovkin will fight Canelo Alvarez on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena
- Canelo is challenging GGG for his WBA, WBC and IBF middleweight belts
- The 27-year-old has prepared for the bout by entering a cryotherapy chamber
- Canelo posted images on his personal Instagram account ahead of the fight
- The Mexican follows Benjamin Mendy who also posted images in the chamber
Ahead of one the most hotly anticipated contests of the year, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has jumped on the cryotherapy bandwagon just days before his title fight with Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin.
On Saturday September 16, Canelo will step into the ring and touch gloves with Golovkin for the WBA, WBC and IBF middleweight world titles at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas.
The Mexican, who has been defeated just once in his 51 professional fights, touched down in Sin City on Tuesday and will come into the fight a cool customer as he became the latest athlete to take to the cryotherapy chamber.

Canelo’s Instagram shows the 27-year-old stood – and with just a head poking out the top – amongst the cool atmosphere that cryo chambers bring, as well as exiting the chamber in just pants and winter gloves, an odd combination.
He wrote in Spanish first, which translated to: ‘Not your typical morning bubble bath! #CryoTank #3days #CaneloGGG #TeamCanelo’
The craze that is cryotherapy, however, is said to bring untold benefits but first, you must suffer the staggering -140 degree chamber.
Just three minutes of cryo-treatment can burn up to 800 calories, Sportsmail has previously reported, as it stimulates the body’s response to the cold, and bringing skin temperature down by 30 to 50 degrees.

The treatment is reported to aid recovery and is endorsed by many athletes – including Cristiano Ronaldo, who has owned his own chamber in the past.
The most recent user is Manchester City’s summer signing Benjamin Mendy, who used the chamber ahead of City’s thrashing of Liverpool last Saturday, although appeared to take the treatment much less seriously than Canelo, who barely cracked a smile.
Canelo is clearly in business mode and it’s no surprise as he takes on one of the most fierce fighters in the middleweight division in Golovkin, who is undefeated in 37 fights, with 33 knock-outs to his name.
Moreover, the challenger is an old friend of Golovkin’s WBC belt having vacated it earlier this year to GGG after he was unwilling to agree to the original proposed date for the fight of May 17. Thankfully for boxing fans, the fight is now finally on their doorsteps.
