Kentucky Derby Picks 2015
The first leg of the Triple Crown Series is just three days and the odds makers at Bovada.lv are holding firm with American Pharoah as the favorite to win the 141st Run for the Roses. The latest Kentucky Derby Picks 2015 from the offshore bookmaker have the Pioneerof The Nile sired colt listed at 9 to 4 odds to win Saturday’s race. Dortmund remains second on the Kentucky Derby odds board with a 9 to 2 price and Carpe Diem still owns the third spot at 7 to 1 Derby odds.
The post draw for the 2015 Kentucky Derby take place at 5:30 pm ET today and it could change the odds for the big race; however, given how highly valued American Pharoah and Dortmund are, it seems unlikely either colt would drop out of the top two spots.
American Pharoah and Dortmund trainer, Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, is not dismissing the effect the draw can have on the race, though.
“The one-hole, I don’t even talk about it because you know how it can be,” Baffert said. “To me, I think the post is going to be very important — and the break.”
However, it would still take quite a lot to push American Pharoah out of the favored role in Saturday’s race. The colt set the horse racing community abuzz earlier this week with a scintillating final workout, covering five furlongs in 58.40 seconds.
The performance only further cemented his status as the top choice to win this year’s Derby.
Dortmund is, perhaps, the only colt capable of stealing public perception from his stable mate should American Pharoah, indeed, draw the rail or the far outside this evening.
Dortmund is not only battle tested, having won two close races against fellow Derby runner Firing Line; he is also undefeated in six career starts.
